The withholding tax rate of 19% on interest income in Spain can be reduced to 0% for customers from Ireland, as you must to provide the Spanish tax form ("Declaración de Residencia Fiscal") when you first open an account with each of our partner banks in Spain. This form is sufficient to reduce the withholding tax and only needs to be submitted once per person and per partner bank.

BFF Bank has a banking license in Italy. However, the bank offers deposits via Raisin Bank through its Spanish branch (Sucursal en España) in Madrid. This means that your savings with the bank are covered by the Italian deposit guarantee (up to €100,000 per account holder per bank), but Spanish withholding tax applies (which you can easily exempt when opening your term deposit, i.e. reduce to 0%).

This is relevant if not only the deposits of a customer brokered via this platform were invested with a specific bank, but also other deposits of this customer were invested with the respective bank.

Spain imposes a standard 19% withholding tax on deposit interest. However, as an Irish taxpayer, you can reduce this to 0% by submitting a certificate of Irish tax residence issued by Revenue. This document must be dated within 12 months of the expiry date and submitted at least 4 weeks prior to that date. For further details, please refer to the Product Information Sheet.

Haitong Bank S.A. Sucursal en España was established in Madrid, Spain in 2001. It is the Spanish branch of the Portuguese Haitong Bank S.A., which was established in Lisbon, Portugal in 1983. Please note that Haitong has a banking license in Portugal and offers term deposits via Raisin through its Spanish branch (Sucursal en España) in Madrid. This means that your savings with the bank are covered by the Portuguese deposit guarantee (up to €100,000 per depositor per bank), but Spanish withholding tax applies (which can easily be reduced to 0%).
